Meranda Soto
Meranda is the Laboratory Technician in the Iyer Lab. She developed a passion for development and research while majoring in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University. Her involvement in undergraduate research through the Center for Phage Technology inspired her to gain more experience in a research laboratory environment. The Iyer Lab’s previous and current research projects piqued Meranda’s interest, leading her to join the lab. This opportunity allows her to explore various areas of neuroimmunology, cell biology, and genetics. Currently, while ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the Iyer Lab run seamlessly, Meranda is performing a large-scale CRISPR-based mutagenesis screen of genes enriched in microgliaand implicated in neurological and lysosomal storage disorders.
In her free time, Meranda enjoys reading, playing the piano, crocheting, gaming, and spending time with friends and family.
